Have you ever noticed how colds seem to pop out of nowhere? And always at the most inconvenient of times too. You can’t get a cold when you have nothing important to do and could potentially just lie in bed all day and eat soup. Noooo, you have to get a cold when you have something very important going, like finals.
So I’m sitting in Skye studying for Bible, or trying to anyway when all of a sudden my throat begins to twinge. Not hurt, really, not at first, but just sort of ache almost when I swallow. Well I just got a cup of coffee and there are no cups left so it’s too late to go back for tea. I’ll just have to suck it up and it’ll go away in a little, right? Wrong. It gets worse. As my throat steadily gets more painful my nose, while not stuffy, slowly begins to run. It’s not too bad just yet but I can feel it’s getting worse. I decide to go home. By 11:30 my face is beginning to ache due to the pressure inside my sinuses and my nose is progressively getting grosser. Thing is, though, I can’t go to sleep. I have to study and I had half a cup of coffee so sleep is out of the question. To make matters worse, we’re out of the silver stuff that’s supposed to help you get better so I’m forced to take some echinacea instead. I hate taking pills.
This is the suckiest time to have a cold. I can’t focus on anything no matter where I am. If I try to study outside my room something will distract me if I study in my room I’m in bed and I just fall asleep after ten minutes anyway, it’s not good I tell you. But lucky for me finals are over and I can sleep all I want. I’m convinced that my body hates me, btw. I could hardly breathe during my Spanish final and guess what my nose does as soon as I get out of the classroom? It clears up. Just like that, magic, I can breathe out of both sides of my nose even. It’s ridiculous! I’m just glad it struck after my final presentation, seeing as my voice is kind of wonky due to mucus coating my throat. It’s really gross. I like how this cold decides to clear up a little only after all of my finals are over.
